MIPCOM 2009

7th October 2009

We have just returned from the glorious sunshine of Cannes at MIPCOM 2009, the global TV industry event where networks market their content. We have spent the last two months working hard on ITV STUDIOS marketing collateral for the event including the stand design, touchscreens, e-books, printed catalogues and advertising – so it was great to see it finally all come together... and more importantly see our client very happy with it all.

One thing we did notice looking around the event is that the vast majority of the TV networks and production companies still haven’t embraced digital as a way of delivering content, even when it comes to their trade marketing. The amount of printed material on their stands was outrageous, with some stands having whole walls full of A4 sheets selling individual programmes. Of course print will always be a necessity (we created two catalogues for ITV STUDIOS to show off their 200+ programmes) however, digital technology is the best way to show off such extensive catalogues. We had over 20 touchscreens on the ITV STUDIOS stand with their programming available to view at a touch – each screen was set into a pod for sales staff to have meetings with their clients and were the focal point for experiencing the ITV STUDIOS content.

Bicycle pump helps win pitch

25th September 2009

It’s true, a bicycle pump taped together with some LED bike lights attached helped win a pitch for ITV Studios.

Lightscribing ORM

The pitch was for the complete marketing materials and stand design for the TV industry event MIPCOM 2009 which takes place in Cannes each year.

Way back in July one of the ideas we presented was using a light-scribing technique. There’s a German collective of light-scribers Lichtfaktor who have done some amazing work and were great inspiration for our design. The use of light in an energetic and striking manner worked well with the new ITV STUDIOS brand identity.

We just hope we weren’t caught on CCTV prancing around creating test exposures like the one above!

10 top tips for using Twitter for business

15th April 2009

I was going to write a piece on the recent phenomenon of businesses utilising Twitter as part of their communications strategy for my first serious post on the blog.  A sort of do's and don't type piece.

Decided to see what others were saying and came across these 10 tips on the PC World website of all places.  I read it and it pretty much echoed the advice we have been offering our clients here for the last couple of years regarding the use of social media.

Channel 4's Plannertarium II

24th March 2009

We have just created a small microsite and other digital marketing assets for Channel 4's B2B event Plannertarium – a conference involving the rising stars of the media planning and buying world.

The aim of the event is to discover if there are any intelligent new ad forms and to boldly go where ads have never gone before, along with industry insight, discussion and entertainment.
