Bicycle pump helps win pitch
It’s true, a bicycle pump taped together with some LED bike lights attached helped win a pitch for ITV Studios.

The pitch was for the complete marketing materials and stand design for the TV industry event MIPCOM 2009 which takes place in Cannes each year.
Way back in July one of the ideas we presented was using a light-scribing technique. There’s a German collective of light-scribers Lichtfaktor who have done some amazing work and were great inspiration for our design. The use of light in an energetic and striking manner worked well with the new ITV STUDIOS brand identity.
We just hope we weren’t caught on CCTV prancing around creating test exposures like the one above!
We toned down the use of the light-scribing in the end as it was getting a bit too ‘urban’ and it didn’t look or feel slick enough for the client, and I’m rather glad we did as everyone is at it now! You may of seen a surge of adverts very recently by a number of brands including TalkTalk, Nescafé and Mazda. I have to admit, Talk Talk done it best, especially with their digital X-Factor campaign.

The MIPCOM 2009 event takes place in October. ORM have have led the whole creative for the stand, touchscreens (there’s 22 of them on the stand!), ebooks, catalogues and advertising.
We will get some pictures of the materials online once the event has taken place.
